Help me out Shakespeare

My six unanswered questions:
1. How did Orsino fall in love with Olivia?
2. How did her brother die?
3. What does the reference to Arion mean?
4. Who is Viola revealing herslef to and why does she want to wait?
5. Why does Sir Toby want Sir Andrew to woo the maid?
6. When Sir Toby was talking up Sir Andrew to Maria was he lying about the languages ect.? Because now he complains of being dumb, and of his ugly hair.

  1. 1. Orsino doesn't fall in love with Olivia he falls in love with the idea of her. Orsino does not really know who Olivia truely is. All he knows is that she is this beautiful, rare, and represents the woman society wants to be married too. NOt only is she beautiful but she is an aristocrat with quite the amount of property. On the outside, Olivia seems like the perfect package. (I.i.7-9)

  3. #5. Sir Andrew has a very large sexual appetite. So in this particular scene Sir Toby is basically encouraging Andrew to "go after" the maid.
#6. Toby IS "talking up" Sir Andrew in Maria. In Act I scene 3, Toby asks Andrew "Pourqui?" Pourqui in French means why. Andrew responds saying, "What is pourqui?....I would have bestowed that time in the tongues that I have in fencing, dancing, and bearbaiting. O, had I followed the arts!" Andrew is saying that he wishes he had spent more of his time studying the arts, languages included, than doing other things. Therefore, yes Toby was just talking up Andrew to make him "look good."
